I feel very strong, I've lost lost of fat, my cardio is so improved! 

I started with Jen's freebie last year (2022). I moved on, and started with Straight Up Strength, then 2.0, then 3.0, then Holiday Express. I have “showed up” every day. 

My goal initially was to do SOMETHING. I am a gardener, landscaper and designer in winter, but I wasn’t really getting much cardio. I was turning 64, felt blobby and unfit. And voila, your emails. I signed up and it has now been over a year. I’m happy. 

I feel very strong. I’ve lost lots of fat, my cardio is so improved, my mind is clearer, I don’t own a scale so don’t know how much weight has come off. Weight loss wasn’t a goal, really. I just wanted to feel better physically, stronger. 

What I like the most is that I can do all the workouts at home. I don’t feel the stress of having to get to a gym or studio, I can set my own time. (I do all workouts in the morning before work.)

I’d recommend any of your programs to anyone looking for improving strength, getting super tightened up, and feeling like you are taking good care of yourself. By virtue of the results, I think anyone will take note of health, the effort and results, and be mindful of what they are eating and putting in their bodies. It all goes hand in hand if you take it seriously. 

I keep repeating workouts from all of the programs, pick and choose, rotating upper, lower, full body. Some things are hard for me still, like push-ups and commando planks. I do what I can, push myself, and know I’ve done my best. I’ll probably get heavier weights for your next program. 

But all in all, my goals are met, I’ll keep going and doing daily work. I said it before in an earlier email, that I’m grateful, so appreciative that your email showed up in my inbox. You saved me.

Aesthetic & Health…I totally agree

I want to be as healthy & strong as long as I can be, which will & should be a regular, consistent plan. I feel since the 2 week challenge, my journey began.

3.0 really kicked it into gear…I started with 8 lb weights…and have increased to 15 & 20 lb weights!! I feel like I have a whole new attitude towards exercising & how I look.

Yes, I still want to loose a some weight, but I’m not obese and I’m getting stronger. I’m getting better at exercises that were so difficult at first. Still have not mastered a few things but I’m patient.
I definitely exercise 3-4 days a week and soon will add another day…but from nothing to were I’m at now, I’ll take it.

HOW DIFFICULT ARE THESE WORKOUTS? ARE THEY GOOD FOR BEGINNERS?

HAVE QUESTIONS? I'VE GOT ANSWERS

Honestly, this depends on you, and your current fitness level!

Each workout offers options to help you scale the workout to your level, because when it comes to exercise, although there needs to be some level of challenge to see changes, sometimes less is truly is more! 

I'VE HAD SOME INJURIES AND WILL NEED MODIFICATIONS. CAN I STILL DO THESE  PROGRAMS?

Mostly likely yes. This comes up a lot...and the closed group is a great way to get access to your questions on form or modifications. 

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO I NEED FOR THESE PROGRAMS? 

These are dumbbell based programs so you will need weights to do the programs.

I get asked a lot what size...so to start 2 sets...one medium and one heavy 'for you'. I will cover more in depth on the kick off call. You don't need a full gym for this program...if you find that the weights you have aren't going to work once you start the program...you can always get what you need pretty quickly at a big box retailer. Most of them carry weights. Facebook Marketplace also has some good deals. 

*I will be incorporating mini bands and a step or Swissball if you prefer not to buy items, I will offer alternatives for you within the workouts. 

If you prefer not to invest in this equipment right off the bat...its OK! I will give options on what to do instead.   

HOW DIFFERENT ARE THESE THAN JUST DOING A STRENGTH VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OR THE PELOTON APP?

If your goal is to see improvements in your body, I encourage you to follow a systematic approach. Doing random workouts are OK for a while, but it's not the best way to see progress. While there is benefit to getting your heart rate up and getting a good sweat, its not the best strategy for building lean muscle. 

While apps can be convenient and cost effective, they aren't the best for actual coaching where you get direct access to the trainer.  
 

WHAT IF I AM NOT ABLE TO DO ALL 8 WEEKS OF ANY PROGRAM?

Consistency really is key to seeing results in any fitness program. Pick the program in this series that works best for you and your schedule so that way the time commitment is minimal. and many of these workouts I offer you the option to shorten them especially for those days when you were pressed on time.…. The rest stays same

That said: If the issue is a vacation or business travel...or you get sick for a few days.

You have lifetime access to the workouts so when you get back from vacation, just pick right back up where you left off!  

 

WHAT ABOUT WHEN THE 8 WEEKS OF A PROGRAM IN YOUR SERIES IS OVER? WHAT WILL I DO THEN ? 

You have several options!
  • First you can grab the next program in the series...work your way through all of them! 
  • You could also always join me for my live workouts three times per week! 
  • And I will continue to add to the series, giving you the opportunity to work with me live when the next program rolls out! 
 

 

I HAVE A WEIGHT LOSS GOAL, WILL THESE PROGRAMS HELP ME DO THAT?

Yes! A well rounded fitness program is essential when there is a weight loss goal. This program focuses on the 3 main things that you need for sustainable weight loss. 

1. Strength Training..the more muscle you have the more calories you burn. 

2. HIIT training...excellent strategy to prompt fat loss. 

3. Consistency and Accountability ..(technically that's 2) but you need both of them if you want results. 

As you know...dialing in nutrition is a key piece to weight loss, and although it is not part of the Straight Up Strength programS, I will be running nutrition programs throughout the year and you will be the first to have the opportunity to join those programs at discount as a Straight Up Strength Series client!
